One of the major projects I managed in 2007 was a re-design of the 'products' site section on businessobjects.com. We called this project the 'Product Catalog'. The project involved working with my team and the support of Eleven Inc. and Red Dog Designs to develop a better way of managing all the product information on the coroprate website.
We audited and removed duplicate content; developed a new information architecture; introduced of a new content model; developed new templates, designs and layouts, including modularized content; made operational SEO updates; and added consistent call-to-action links and buttons to every page.
Working with Digital River, a complete re-skin and re-design of the online store was also part of the project. To drive more traffic to the store, direct-to-cart buy buttons were added to select pages on businessobjects.com.
These changes resulted in an increase in click-through traffic, higher ranking search results and an overall improvement to browsing and finding product information.
I developed chocolatgudel.com for a friend of mine transitioning into the gourmet chocolat making business. Next, the plan is to introduce a shopping cart (ecommerce features), new photos, and continue to evolve the overall design of the site.
I developed fitnessdonewright.com for my former personal trainer Judy Wright. This simple one page site is just the first step in developing her online business focused on fitness, health and personal training.
Between 2005-2007, I managed the corporate intranet at Business Objects, and many of my projects revolved around databases. One project was called the Library—a database driven, tagging solution for managing and finding content on the intranet. I presented this project on August 14, 2006 at Adaptive Path's User Experience Week in Washington DC.
The Library was developed as a joint strategic project with Chiara Fox, Senior Information Architect at Adaptive Path, and is based on the Flamenco Search Interface Project.
While working at Business Objects, from 2003 to 2007, I developed and managed the tool and internal process used to send regular communications to the Sales and Marketing departments. Each week, employees would use the 'Sales Flash' web application to submit their weekly announcements. I would then edit and organize these submissions to generate and send-out the weekly email edition. The eNewsletter was also RSS enabled, and syndicated.
Sales Flash became a staple in our communication process. Over the years, I managed ongoing feature enhancements, a migration from PHP to .NET, end-user training and hiring a junior employee to take over my responsibilities.
In 2005, I completed a website for the television series Terminal City, a new, ten-part mini-series. I designed this website as a joint project with Leif Jason of Mastermynde Mediaworks. The site was listed as one of the Top 10 Most Popular Websites at the 2006 Gemini Awards.
